The Ministry of Tourism’s Green Angels patrol the whole state of Quintana Roo (covering 250 kms daily) and offer assistance to travellers on the country’s main highways between 08:00 and 18:00 hrs, 365 days a year. They can be reached by speed dialling 078 and they provide the following services:

  • Information on and directions to attractions and state and regional tourist services.
  • Mechanical assistance and emergency radio communication.
  • Help in case of accidents.
  • Help for the population in general in case of disasters.


During the holiday periods of December, Holy Week and summer, check points are set up 24 hours a day in various strategic points for  better assistance and coverage for visitors to the State. The check points are located in:

 

1. Chetumal - Bacalar Km 19
2. Tulum - Cancún Km 229.
3. Cancún – Puerto Morelos Km 219


Before setting out on the highway the Green Angels recommend you:

  • Check the state of your vehicle’s breaks, clutch, tyres and suspension.
  • Verify you have a spare tyre, jack and tools.
  • Check the oil levels of the engine and transmission box.
  • Check the vehicle’s electrical and cooling system.

When driving on the highway the Green Angels recommend you:

  • Drive with care, respecting the signs and avoiding high speeds.
  • Don’t drive if you are tired.
  • Don’t drive if you have consumed alcoholic beverages.
  • Use your safety belt.
  • Don’t overtake on the hard shoulder.
  • Don’t throw trash or other objects on to the highway.
  • Make sure you drive during daylight hours.
